The announcement on the Villa Twitter regarding one of their fixtures being selected for TV coverage did not go down too well amongst some Villans.

A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to criticise the decision regarding three of their November Premier League games being moved – in particular the Newcastle United fixture.

The West Midlands derby against Wolves, previously scheduled for Saturday, November 9, has now been switched to a 2pm kickoff on Sunday, November 10, which perhaps is no surprise given the Molineux side’s Europa League commitments.

A fortnight later, Villa will host Newcastle United at home in another Monday Night Football showing on Sky Sports, with the new kickoff taking place at 8pm on Monday, November 25, and the meeting with Manchester United a week later has been moved to a 4.30pm kick-off on Sunday, December 1, though this will not be on TV.

On social media, quite a few Villans faithful not only slated the decision to move their game against the Magpies to Monday, but also felt sorry for the visiting fans, who have a journey of around 200 miles each way on a Monday night.

According to Chronicle Live, the fixture between Villa and Newcastle is deemed “something of a grudge match” between the two clubs with the claret and blue side twice sending Newcastle down, in 2009 and 2016.
