The Villa Park midfielder put in yet another superb display as Dean Smith’s charges routed the Addicks.

Many Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to comment on John McGinn’s impressive display in the pre-season friendly 4-1 win at Charlton Athletic.
The Scot, along with captain Jack Grealish, were the only two Villa players to play the full 90 minutes at The Valley and both were instrumental in a superb performance ahead of the club’s final pre-season friendly of 2019-20.
Anwar El Ghazi opened the scoring for Dean Smith’s side from inside the box before the break and Andre Green then slotted home after the interval to put Villa in control, both goals assisted by Grealish.
Then it was time for the McGinn show as the 24-year-old added a third in front of the visiting fans and, even though Lyle Taylor scored what turned out to be a consolation for the hosts from the spot, McGinn saved his best for last.

The playmaker relentlessly hustled down the opposition defenders as they were passing the ball around at the back, and claimed possession on the right-hand side before heading goalwards, riding out a tough tackle just outside the box in the process.
McGinn then rounded the goalkeeper in virtually no space and slotted home from an incredibly tight angle to send the visiting fans into a frenzy – and those on social media agreed that it was something special:
Villa face RB Leipzig in their final pre-season fixture before getting their Premier League campaign under way away at Tottenham Hotspur.
