The 2018 summer signing from Hibernian has thoroughly impressed for the Championship side.

Aston Villa have seen many of their players step up over the past two months as what initially seemed a below-par Championship campaign transformed into one with the opportunity of promotion to the Premier League still very much a possibility.
At Villa’s end-of-season awards ceremony, the big winner was John McGinn, who has played a pivotal role for the West Midlanders this season and has been especially impressive in the team’s 10-match winning run since the start of March.
Signed by Villa from Scottish Premiership club Hibernian for an undisclosed fee reported to be £2.79million (Transfermarkt) last summer, the 24-year-old has become a firm fan favourite at Villa Park, and on top of his all-round play, he has also weighed in with six goals and 10 assists in the league.
McGinn picked up two awards – that of Players’ Player of the Season and also the Supporters Player of the Season, testament to how much he is appreciated both by his teammates and by the fanbase.
Here is how Villa announced the news to their fans on their Twitter feed on the night:
Needless to say, much of the Villans fanbase was in agreement with both calls:
McGinn was denied a hat-trick of awards on the night by Jack Grealish, who claimed the Goal of the Season award.
