The Egypt defender – and teammate of reported Villa target Trezeguet – is back at Villa Park after the Africa Cup of Nations.

A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Ahmed Elmohamady’s Instagram post – shared by the club’s Twitter account – and many of them are saying the same thing.
The 31-year-old is back at Villa Park having captained Egypt on home soil in the Africa Cup of Nations, the Pharaohs making it to the knockout stages before being knocked out by South Africa.
Disappointing a tournament it may have been for Elmohamady, but there is much to look forward to at club level as, following his break, he has returned to a side which triumphed in the Championship playoffs last term and is preparing for their Premier League return.
As part of those preparations, Villa have been busy in the transfer market, and one player linked with Dean Smith’s side is Mahmoud Hassan, also known as Trezeguet – one of Elmohamady’s Egypt teammates.

Indeed, a report from Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb from a few days ago suggested that a deal between Villa and the Kasimpasa winger was “all done”, while fellow suitors Sampdoria had been knocked out of the race for the €15million (£13.5million) rated ace.
Here is what some Villa fans said on social media in relation to the club’s Elmohamady post:
Trezeguet, who has just recently returned to pre-season training for Kasimpasa, is contracted to the Turkish club until the summer of 2021, according to Transfermarkt.
