Aston Villa right-back Ahmed Almohamady has given his thoughts, both to the club’s media team and on his personal Twitter account, to his side’s 2-0 win over Bolton Wanderers which made it nine wins in a row.

On Good Friday, Dean Smith’s charges picked up a straightforward victory over the struggling Whites, whose meek display and subsequent defeat confirmed their relegation to League One, thanks to goals from Jack Grealish and Tammy Abraham.

It was a day of contrasting emotions at the University of Bolton Stadium, with the home contingent dejected come 5pm as the reality of third-tier football hit home, while the travelling fans were on cloud nine after their team put themselves on the brink of a playoff finish.

On top of that, Villa matched the club’s 106-year record of nine consecutive wins and they don’t even have have to wait long for the opportunity to make history with 10 in a row – they host Millwall at Villa Park on Easter Monday.

“It was good to get the nine wins. I’ve never experienced nine on the spin before,” Elmohamady told the Villa media team. “I’ve really enjoyed it. Hopefully we can make it 10 on Monday. But now we have to just focus on the next match. That’s going to be a tough one.”

On Twitter, meanwhile, the Egypt international expressed his happiness with a six-word tweet:
