Darren Bent was on the books at Aston Villa between 2011 and 2015.

A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the news that Darren Bent – who played for the Villa Park outfit – has announced his retirement from professional football aged 35.
The striker, who has been without a club since the end of the 2017-18 season, scored 216 goals in 568 appearances in all competitions during his 18-year playing career.
As reported by talkSPORT, the outlet where he made the announcement, Bent is one of just 28 players to have scored more than 100 Premier League goals, and played for six different clubs in the top flight.
Bent was at Villa between 2011 and 2015, but although he got off to a good start by scoring on his debut against Manchester City, he ended up making just 72 appearances for the Villans, scoring 25 goals (Transfermarkt), and going out on loan three times while on their books.
The England international is nonetheless fondly remembered amongst plenty of Villa fans, his goals helping to keep the club in the Premier League during a period when the team was struggling in the top flight.
Indeed, were it not for the ruptured ligaments he suffered in 2012 against Wigan Athletic and, later on, falling out of favour with Paul Lambert, who knows how things could have panned out for both player and club.
