The Villa Park side will be in action against the Canaries at Carrow Road as Dean Smith and Daniel Farke renew acquaintances once again.

A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to comment on a club tweet hailing Conor Hourihane’s “great track record” against upcoming Premier League opponents Norwich City.

The Villans head to Carrow Road on Saturday to lock horns with the Canaries, who like the Villa Park side were promoted from the Championship last season.

Hourihane has been involved in five goals in his last four league matches against Norwich in Villa’s colours – three goals and two assists – and has also scored four goals in six matches in all competitions against the Canaries – three for Villa.

However, some Villa fans were not pleased with their club’s Twitter channel seemingly tempting fate with such a tweet, while others reminded the club that, while Hourihane’s record against Norwich is good, their recent record as a team is not quite on the same level.

Indeed, Villa have lost their last three games against the Canaries, while the last time the claret and blue side won at Carrow Road was all the way back in September 2013, as shown by statistics website 11v11.

Here is some of the social media reaction to the post:

Hourihane has been with Villa since January 2017 when he made the move from Barnsley and has 117 appearances under his belt, scoring 24 goals and registering 17 assists according to Transfermarkt.
