A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on Cameron Archer’s debut display as Dean Smith’s Villans ran out 6-1 winners at Crewe Alexandra in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

Ezri Konsa, Conor Hourihane (two goals), Keinan Davis, Frederic Guilbert and Jack Grealish all got on the scoresheet to get the better of the Railwaymen, who despite being on the receiving end of a heavy defeat, nonetheless put the visitors under pressure.

Archer came on for Keinan Davis in the 82nd minute at Gresty Road and looked very bright in his cameo, being involved in a tussle with Eddie Nolan soon after taking to the field, putting himself about, and generally looking very much ‘in place’ on the pitch.

Here is what some Villa fans said about the 18-year-old academy graduate’s display on the night and what they hope to see from him going forward:

As reported by the Birmingham Mail, Archer is seen as one of the most talented prospects in the Villa academy and is very highly rated by the coaches including Smith himself.

Given that Villa have a striker shortage at the moment with Jonathan Kodjia out injured and Scott Hogan and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy away on loan, Archer could well get more senior minutes in the coming weeks.
