Aston Villa fans react on Twitter to Callum O’Hare comments ahead of new season

The 21-year-old Villa academy graduate is with Dean Smith’s contingent in Minnesota for pre-season.

A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on Callum O’Hare’s comments about his progress over the past few months and what he hopes to achieve in the coming season (official Villa website).

The 21-year-old is currently with the Villans contingent at their pre-season training camp in Minnesota following a fruitful loan spell with Carlisle United in League Two over the second half of last season.

O’Hare featured 16 times for the Cumbrians in 2018-19, scoring three goals and registering three assists as they made a late bid for a playoff finish, though unfortunately they fell just short.

Speaking about his time on loan at Brunton Park, he told the official Villa website: “I’ve learned more than ever in 2019 thanks to the loan spell with Carlisle. It proved to be a really valuable experience… I feel like I’ve improved as a player massively. It was great to get a lot of game time and chip in with goals and assists.”

Moving on to his thoughts on his parent club, O’Hare added: “It’s an exciting time here. I’ve really enjoyed the first three days of the tour and always feel I learn a lot under Dean Smith technically… he’s helped me develop a lot since he’s arrived. It’s also great to share the pitch with some of our new signings, who have already impressed and will help us massively this season. For me, it’s now my aim to keep doing my best and see where it can get me.”

Meanwhile, former Villa academy ace Harry McKirdy – who has joined Carlisle permanently this summer – weighed in with a request for O’Hare to make a return to Brunton Park:

O’Hare – who reportedly signed a new deal earlier this year until 2020 according to the Birmingham Mail – came through the ranks at Villa Park, progressing from the youth team to the Under-23s, and has made a number of senior appearances so far.

According to Transfermarkt, he has played nine times for the first team – four substitute appearances in the Championship and five starts in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, plus numerous spots on the bench.
