The Villans academy graduate will spend 2019-20 away from Villa Park and at North End’s Deepdale.

A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the announcement that Andre Green has joined Preston North End on loan for the 2019-20 season (official Preston website).

The 21-year-old winger, who like Jack Grealish hails from Solihull and came through the Villa academy, made 22 appearances for the Villans last term, largely in the second half of the campaign after returning from his loan spell at Portsmouth.

Green got relatively little game time at Fratton Park but still managed to score five goals, then he came back to B6 in January and was given plenty of game time by Dean Smith, going on to play in both the playoff semi-finals and the final victory over Derby County at Wembley Stadium.

Preston’s official website confirmed that he will take the number 19 shirt at Deepdale, the same number as he currently dons at Villa, and will be available for Lilywhites manager Alex Neil to go straight into the squad for the weekend’s Championship opener at Millwall.
