Aston Villa fans are backing Morgan Sanson to become a regular in the team after the club bigged him up on social media.
It has been a tough road for Sanson ever since Villa paid £14 million (Sky Sports) for his midfield talents last January.
Injuries, and then not earning a single minute under Dean Smith in the Premier League this season, just made matters worse for the former Marseille man.
But on Sunday, he got over 75 minutes under his belt, after his first Premier League start for the club since April, during his side’s 3-1 defeat to Chelsea.
Villa’s official Twitter account lauded what the player brought to the table, from his dribbling on the ball and his ability and aggression without it.
From the perspective of the Villa Park faithful, they are hoping this is a sign of things to come and he will now finally start to make a name for himself.
Many felt that he was Villa’s Man of the Match during that Chelsea loss and they think he is someone who can be pushed further forward by Steven Gerrard.
Villa will travel to London on Sunday, where they will lock horns with newly-promoted Brentford, and Sanson will be hoping for another start.
If the Frenchman can stay away from the treatment room, then he will feel like a new signing because he has hardly kicked a ball for the club since he arrived.
One thing is for sure, under Gerrard’s system, where the Midlands side are playing out from the back more in their narrow formation, it does suit Sanson’s game and fans are now backing him to thrive.
