Several Aston Villa fans are ruing the decision to let Tommy Elphick go out on loan in the summer.

A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to congratulate Tommy Elphick after he was named Hull City’s Player of the Month for October, and express their hope to see the centre-back back at Villa Park during the January transfer window.
Elphick has been impressive since moving to the Tigers on loan in the summer. He endured a largely miserable spell under Steve Bruce with the Villans so it did not seem a huge surprise to many that he was given the green light to leave.
What was a major shock however, is that Villa decided to loan Elphick out without significantly strengthening their already-sparse defensive options. And it has seemingly proved fairly costly.
Dean Smith’s side have kept two clean sheets in four games since he arrived, but Bruce only oversaw one in the league before he left the club just before the last international break.

Meanwhile, Elphick has enjoyed a very positive spell with Hull. Nigel Adkins’ men find themselves in the relegation zone, but something has definitely changed in recent times. They have not conceded more than one goal in a game once since late September and have taken eight points from their last seven games.
Elphick’s performances appear to have been key to their defensive improvement. And he has been rewarded with the Player of the Month award for last month.

And when he took to Twitter to react to the news, a number of Villa supporters responded by imploring Smith to bring him back in January and correct Bruce’s mistake.
