Aston Villa beat Millwall 1-0 on Monday afternoon.

Aston Villa moved to within just two points of fourth-placed West Bromwich Albion by beating Millwall 1-0 on Monday afternoon.
Villa racked up a ninth straight win on Friday afternoon, beating Bolton Wanderers away from home before returning to Villa Park to take on Millwall.
Dean Smith was looking for a remarkable 10th win in a row, and got exactly what he wanted as Jonathan Kodjia scored the only goal of the game in the first half.
Villa weren’t exactly convincing, but got the win they needed to secure a playoff place, meaning the final two games of the season may well be irrelevant for Smith’s side.
A number of Villa players impressed, but defender Tyrone Mings once again stood strong, helping nullify a physical Millwall attack featuring Lee Gregory and later Steve Morison.

Mings has been superb for Villa since arriving on loan from Bournemouth in January, and he kept Villa solid at the back despite playing alongside makeshift centre back Mile Jedinak.
Villa fans have been taking to Twitter to hail Mings, calling him ‘an absolute monster’ and ‘a machine’, praising his commitment whilst demanding that he is signed permanently this summer, feeling that he’s what Villa lacked in defence following John Terry’s retirement.
