The Egyptian international was announced as Aston Villa’s latest signing on Wednesday.
The Egyptian international is reported by The Birmingham Mail to have signed for a fee of around £8.5m, increasing the club’s major summer spend.
Dean Smith and the recruitment team at Villa Park have already added a number of players to the squad as they prepare to show they can compete in the English Premier League after promotion.
Smith is delighted with the capture of Trezeguet, telling the club’s official website: “He’s the type of wide player that we have been looking for who is direct, causes problems for the opposition in the final third and scores goals.”
That assessment certainly rings true when you look at the impact he made at Kasimpasa over the last two seasons.
Scoring 25 goals and assisting 18 times in 71 appearances, he could be the kind of player that adds real attacking threat to the Villa side.
He’s also a player who could get Villa fans off their seats with direct dribbling and forward ambition. His average of 3.3 completed dribbles per game last season (WhoScored) in the Turkish top-flight was more than any other player in the division.
Playing primarily on the left flank in Turkey, the 24-year-old can also feature on the right wing, giving Smith a bit of flexibility when considering his wide options next season.
The Premier League will be a big step up but the evidence is there he will at least bring exciting attacking intent to England.
