After a turbulent summer Aston Villa entered the season on a high, winning their first two games.

A cup win in midweek continued their momentum but on Saturday they could only manage a draw with Ipswich Town.

The result was more frustrating for Villa because they had led early in the first half, and Ipswich played 50 minutes with 10 men.

Club owner Tony Xia expressed his annoyance after the game, sending a message on Twitter following the final whistle.

Xia’s message drew a mixed response from fans, with a number urging him to sack manager Steve Bruce.

Villa were linked with making a managerial change in the summer but decided not to, amid financial uncertainty.

Some fans were more sympathetic towards Bruce, and reserved their anger towards Xia, suggesting he should be happy with seven points from a possible nine to start the season after the summer of uncertainty at the club.
