The Aston Villa goalkeeper pulled out of international as precautionary measure, it seems.

Aston Villa have moved to allay fears over Tom Heaton’s fitness.
The former Burnley goalkeeper, a £7 million signing by the Villans in August [The Sun], pulled out of international duty with England on Tuesday.
The 33-year-old has impressed for Aston Villa this season and despite winning their last game 5-1, Dean Smith, whose side have won twice all season, does not need any injury concerns on his plate.
Sky Sports did not specify the sort of problem that Heaton was struggling with, but the club’s official Twitter account confirmed that it was also a precautionary measure and that he should be fit for the visit of Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday week.
Here’s how Aston Villa fans reacted to the update:
It’s unfortunate if you’re Jed Steer, the goalkeeper who helped Smith’s side win promotion to the Premier League.
He hasn’t kicked a ball in the top flight since the Villans’ return and he might have wondered whether Heaton’s injury opened the door for him, but it looks like the veteran won’t be losing his gloves for the time being.
