Aston Villa could have signed Robin van Persie, manager Steve Bruce recently said.

Aston Villa fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to recent comments from manager Steve Bruce about Robin van Persie.
Villa manager Bruce recently said that he looked at signing former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Van Persie before his move to Feyenoord after leaving Fenerbahce in the January transfer window.
Bruce revealed that he had looked long and hard at the prospect of bringing the 34-year-old Netherlands international striker this month.

“He was wanting to come out of Turkey and we looked at it long and hard,” Bruce told The Birmingham Mail about Van Persie. “It’s not often you get the availability of somebody like Robin van Persie.
“At the moment, with what we’ve got in that position and the amount of 30-year-olds we’ve got I just decided that it’s better we look elsewhere. I wish him the best of luck. It was an interesting couple of days!”
Van Persie is now past his best, but the Netherlands international was one of the best strikers in the Premier League in his prime.
The 34-year-old achieved success during his time at Arsenal from 2004 until 2012, before moving to bitter rivals United.
The Dutchman won the Premier League title with the Red Devils during the 2012-13 season.
Bruce’s Villa are doing quite well in the Championship at the moment and aiming to win promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.
Villa fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to Bruce’s comments about Van Persie and his decision not to sign the striker.
