Some of the Villans faithful have opted to either mock the Owls or warn them about their former boss being appointed by the Hillsborough outfit.

Steve Bruce, Manager of Aston Villa looks on prior to the Sky Bet Championship match between Aston Villa and Brentford at Villa Park on August 22, 2018 in Birmingham, England.

Some Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to urge their Sheffield Wednesday counterparts not to get too excited about the appointment of Steve Bruce as their new manager.

The 58-year-old was confirmed as the new Owls boss by the Championship club, who put out a statement on Wednesday afternoon.

Prior to taking the job at Hillsborough, Bruce was last at the helm of Villa, a club he managed between October 2016 and October 2018.

Bruce steered the Villans to the Championship playoff final at the end of last season but could not get the better of Fulham at Wembley.

This term, meanwhile, he was sacked with the club 12th in the table following a 3-3 draw against then bottom side Preston, which was only secured thanks to a late Villa equaliser.

Following Wednesday’s announcement of Bruce as their new manager, some Villa fans took to Twitter, the vast majority of these either mocking or warning Owls fans:

Since parting company with Bruce, Villa have edged up to 10th in the table, their last six games under Dean Smith yielding four draws, one defeat and just one victory.
