Aston Villa are reportedly keen on Newcastle midfielder Isaac Hayden.

Aston Villa have already brought in two new faces during this month’s transfer window, but remain in the market for more additions to Dean Smith’s squad.
Villa snapped up Gent goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic in advance of the window opening, and then brought in Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Kortney Hause earlier this week.
Villa continue to be linked with a host of new faces despite their Financial Fair Play worries, and Newcastle’s Isaac Hayden is the latest player to be linked with the club.
The Mirror report that Villa are keen to sign Hayden and are battling West Brom for his signature, even though Newcastle have already rejected one loan bid for him.
Hayden, 23, has been seeking a move away from Newcastle since the summer, but Rafael Benitez rates him highly and doesn’t want him to leave St James’ Park.
The holding midfielder was ironically a favourite of ex-Villa boss Steve Bruce at Hull City, but it’s his Villa successor Smith who could sign him.

Villa fans have been taking to Twitter to offer their views on Hayden, with some really keen on the idea of him arriving to bolster Smith’s midfield this month, calling him ‘proven quality’.
Others feel that Hayden is a Championship player at best, which…is the division Villa are playing in, and added that they would prefer Levante’s Cheick Doukoure in midfield.
