Tommy Elphick may possibly be handed a lifeline at Aston Villa if the latest reports are correct.

Aston Villa fans have been reacting on Twitter to the reports that have emerged from the Express and Star which suggested that Tommy Elphick could be handed another chance in the Villans’ side next season.
Villa face a crucial summer. After missing out on promotion, the club are going to need to be shrewd in the market with the Express and Star suggesting that their finances are precarious.

And part of that process may involve Steve Bruce handing a lifeline to some of the squad members who probably thought that their spells at Villa Park were over – and that could include Elphick.

The defender – who joined for £3 million, according to BBC Sport – has struggled to break into the team during Bruce’s tenure and left the club in January to join Championship rivals Reading on loan. Many would have been forgiven for assuming that he was possibly on his way this summer.

Interestingly, many of the Villa fans on social media reacting to the news have suggested that it is a good move. They may not have seen the best of the centre-back, but with John Terry gone and questions regarding James Chester’s future at the club, it appears to make a lot of sense.
There are some who are underwhelmed at the prospect of Elphick getting a second chance, but the general consensus appears to be that it is a smart move to bring him back into the fold.
