West Bromwich Albion are believed to be closing in on signing Sam Johnstone, who has spent the last two seasons on loan at Aston Villa.

Aston Villa fans have expressed their frustration that Sam Johnstone could move to West Bromwich Albion.
The Daily Mirror claims that West Brom are on the verge of signing Johnstone from Manchester United.

The young goalkeeper has spent the last two seasons on loan at Villa, and has become a fans’ favourite at Villa Park.

However, it now seems that Johnstone is set to move to their local rivals in West Brom, as reported by the Express and Star.
Villa simply do not have the money to afford to sign the goalkeeper from United, and claret and blues fans are gutted that he could join West Brom instead of them.
Steve Bruce had made no secret of his desire to sign Johnstone this summer, so missing out on him will be a blow.
Villa are going to be heavily reliant on free transfers and loan signings, as they look to get out of the mess they are currently in.
West Brom, meanwhile, seem to have money to spend as they plot an immediate return to the Premier League.
