It was suggested this week that Villa may be looking to offload the forward immediately.
Aston Villa fans have reacted on Twitter this week to a report that £12 million summer signing Ross McCormack could be sold as soon as January.
A report in the Mirror claimed that Villa could look to offload the 30-year-old next month as new manager Steve Bruce looks to re-balance his squad.
McCormack joined the relegated club at the start of August and was initially a regular in the Villa side, playing as a spearhead in a multi-pronged attack.
However, he has started just two of Bruce’s seven games in charge since taking over in mid-October, serving mostly as a deputy to leading frontman Jonathan Kodjia.
The Scot has found the net only twice since his arrival in Birmingham, and there are whispers that the Villa staff are underwhelmed with the impact he has made.
However, he undoubtedly has class at Championship level, and to sell him so soon would undoubtedly be a risk, particularly as Villa will have a host of attacking stars absent after the new year for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Reacting on Twitter to the report, Villa fans’ opinions were split, though many thought it would be unwise to move McCormack on at this stage.
