Southampton left-back Matt Targett is reportedly on Aston Villa’s radar.

Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the club’s reported interest in signing Matt Targett from Southampton in the summer transfer window.

According to The Telegraph, Villa are interested in signing Targett from Southampton this summer.

It has been reported that the Villans – who will play in the Premier League next season after clinching promotion from the Championship via the playoffs – have agreed to pay the Saints an initial transfer fee of £14 million for the 23-year-old left-back.

Targett, who can also operate as a left-winger, is a very talented and promising young left-back, and at the age of 23, he can only improve in the coming years.

The youngster will be a back-up to Neil Taylor initially, but given time and afforded patience, he could even displace him in the starting lineup and make the left-back slot his own.
