Dean Smith’s side have already been linked with a host of targets since promotion to the Premier League.
And Villa fans feel that the links with Rongier are more exciting that most the transfer rumours they have heard so far.
Villa have already brought in Frederic Guilbert from Ligue 1, so the claret and blues do know the French market.
Rongier has had a solid season for Nantes, where he has played regularly.
If Rongier was brought to Villa he would be in competition with the likes of John McGinn and Conor Hourihane for a place in Smith’s midfield.
