Aston Villa are reportedly interested in Middlesbrough youngster Marcus Tavernier this summer.
A number of Aston Villa supporters have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from the Northern Echo over the weekend which suggested that Dean Smith is interested in Middlesbrough youngster Marcus Tavernier this summer.
The Villans are gearing up for life in the Premier League after winning the Championship play-off final last month. And it appears that Smith is keen to waste little time trying to bolster his squad ahead of their return to the top flight.
The Northern Echo has reported that Villa are keen on both Rangers captain James Tavernier and brother Marcus Tavernier of Middlesbrough. And while the former goes into the next season off the back of an outstanding campaign at Ibrox, the latter is a much more unproven prospect.
The Boro ace started just two Championship games this past season, making a further 18 appearances from the bench. He did however, still manage to make an impact, scoring three league goals.
Nevertheless, it appears that he would have plenty to prove if he did join Villa this summer as a number of supporters on social media seem to be somewhat underwhelmed with the links.
A couple have suggested that the priority needs to be bringing Anwar El Ghazi back, while there have been quite a few who have suggested that they would not be happy if a deal took place.
