Liverpool chose to let Georginio Wijnaldum leave the club this summer, and Aston Villa’s John McGinn is now being suggested as a replacement.
Wijnaldum has moved on to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer, leaving a major hole in Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Naby Keita, Curtis Jones or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could step up, but McGinn is being touted as a potential target.
Liverpool’s interest in McGinn
The Sunday Post reported that Liverpool had picked out McGinn as a target, with Michael Edwards looking towards midfielders who can fill Wijnaldum’s role.
The report suggested that Liverpool value the Scot at around £20million, which is surely nowhere near enough to prise him away from Villa.
In fact, The Athletic report that Villa would want around £50million for McGinn, meaning the huge difference in valuations should kill off any Liverpool hopes.
The same report notes that Jurgen Klopp was blown away by McGinn during Villa’s 7-2 win over Liverpool back in October, which could be a factor in the interest.

Villa fans have their say
With a new asking price set, Villa fans have been taking to Twitter to share their thoughts on the speculation.
Villa fans believe that McGinn is ‘priceless’ and any talk of him going to Liverpool is ‘ludicrous’.
Others called him a ‘massive player’, begging Villa to keep him and not allow him to move to Liverpool.
