Jordan Amavi lost his place at Aston Villa last season but Didier Deschamps has rewarded his fine form on loan at Ligue 1 giants Marseille.

Less than two months after completing his departure from Aston Villa, Jordan Amavi has been called up to the senior France squad for the first time.
Though Les Blues boss Didier Deschamps was admittedly constrained by injuries to PSG’s Layvin Kurzawa and Manchester City flyer Benjamin Mendy, you can’t argue that the 23-year-old does not deserve international recognition based upon his performances in recent weeks.
Amavi not only ousted Patrice Evra from Marseille’s starting XI, he has emerged as one of the most astute signings in Ligue 1 this season. Not bad for a player who only arrived on loan with an option to buy of £9 million, as reported by The Mail.

It’s fair to say the Amavi in the form of his life at Marseille is a different beast to the error-prone left-back who struggled at Villa in the second half of last season.
A real fan favourite when he arrived from Nice in the summer of 2015, Villa supporters never really saw the best of the fleet-footed full-back once he suffered a horrific knee injury around two years ago.
He was even replaced in the first-team by Welsh international Neil Taylor towards the end of last season. However, it appears that a return to France has taken Amavi one step closer to fulfilling his potential.

And Villa fans, for the most part, are lining up to give him a hearty pat on the back.
