The Aston Villa defender was not at his best against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Aston Villa would have been hopeful of maintaining their impressive recent form when they took on Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, but the hosts ran out comfortable winners courtesy of goals from Diogo Jota and Leo Bonatini.
Few Villa players left the field with their heads held high and one who was well below his best was centre-back James Chester.

The Welsh international had already suffered disappointment earlier this month when his country failed to make the World Cup play-offs, and that setback looked to be playing on his mind as he struggled alongside his skipper John Terry.
The pair have been in fine form for Villa during the club’s surge up the table, but neither defender covered himself in glory this time round.

Chester struggled from beginning to end and it will be interesting to see if he faces a spell out of the starting line-up after this below-par performance.
Such has been the Villa player’s recent dominance that he will be hoping this is simply a blip, but only time will tell.
