The Aston Villa right-back started against Walsall on Tuesday evening.
Aston Villa’s latest pre-season friendly ended in a draw, but there were plenty of positives to take from their stalemate against Walsall earlier this week.
The performance of centre-backs John Terry and Chris Samba – the latter working hard in an attempt to earn a permanent contract at Villa Park – stood out, while manager Steve Bruce opted to start James Bree at right right-back.

The youngster was the least headline-worthy arrival during Villa’s busy January, arriving from Barnsley for what the BBC reported was a substantial fee.
He was in and out of Villa’s starting line-up thereafter, competing with veteran Allan Hutton with that battle expected to continue when the new campaign kicks off next month.
Still only 19, Bree has years ahead of him to improve, but after featuring regularly for the Tykes he will not want to get too used to a place on the bench as Villa attempt to make it second time lucky in their pursuit of promotion back to the top flight.
