Aston Villa fans on social networking site Twitter have called on the club to sign Jack Marriott from Peterborough United after the two sides’ match on Saturday.

Championship club Villa suffered an embarrassing 3-1 defeat to League One club Peterborough at Villa Park in the third round of the FA Cup.

Although the Villans took the lead through Keinan Davis after just eight minutes, the visiting team launched a stunning comeback late in the second half.

Marriott was the star of the show for Posh, as the 23-year-old striker scored twice – first on 75 minutes and then the winner in the third minute of injury time.

The 23-year-old is one of the best strikers in League One, and has scored 17 goals and provided three assists in the league so far this season, according to BBC Sport.

Steve Bruce’s side are aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship this season and could do with the addition of a prolific and in-form striker.
