Eddie Howe was surprisingly named in a report as one potential target for Aston Villa as they search for a new manager.

A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the reports emerging from the Daily Record suggesting that the Villans could be interested in trying to appoint Eddie Howe as their new manager.
Villa sacked Steve Bruce last week and seem to have been linked with a large number of managers since the announcement was made. The Record reports that talks have been held with Thierry Henry and an approach for Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers is expected to be made this week.
But quite remarkably, the Record adds that Howe is another name who features on Christian Purslow’s wishlist as he tries to find Bruce’s successor – and unsurprisingly, most of the Villa fans on social media cannot believe the rumours.
Howe is doing a fantastic job with the Cherries and they now find themselves sixth in the Premier League table heading into the international break after thrashing Watford at the weekend.

There have been occasions where managers have dropped down divisions to take jobs that boast the kind of potential that their current clubs do not have. But Howe taking the Villa job would surely be one of the most surprising decisions in recent memory, especially with Bournemouth going so well right now.
It would be an incredible statement if Villa were successful in any approach for Howe, but for right now, the fans are not convinced that he would come into the category of realistic targets for the Championship side.

Here is some of the reaction to the reports…
