Aston Villa are reportedly interested in approaching Brentford boss Dean Smith should they sack Steve Bruce.

A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the reports emerging from The Sun on Sunday (30/09; page 59) which have suggested that Dean Smith will be the Villans’ top target should they decide to replace Steve Bruce as manager.
Bruce appears to be coming under increasing pressure from the supporters at Villa Park. It has been an incredibly underwhelming start to the season for the Villans, and they now find themselves in the bottom-half of the Championship.
The Sun on Sunday (30/09; page 59) reports that Bruce may be starting to test the board’s patience as well, as there appears to have been discussions regarding a potential change.
The report suggests that Smith is currently at the top of the club’s wishlist after the excellent work that he has done with Brentford – who are now sixth in the second tier, just four points off top spot.

The report suggesting that Smith is on Villa’s radar has largely gone down extremely well with most of the fans on social media. Bruce is clearly not a popular figure amongst some of the supporters, and plenty appear to think that it is time for the manager to go.
And with Smith’s side playing a very exciting brand of football, there appears to be plenty of fans who are excited about the idea of seeing the Bees boss potentially appointed. There are those who have their doubts, but the majority appear to be in favour of an approach for the boyhood Villa fan.

Here is what some of the Aston Villa fans make of the reports…
