According to The Sun, Villa – who will play in the Premier League next season after clinching promotion from the Championship via the playoffs – are interested in signing Sturridge in the summer transfer window.
The 29-year-old former Manchester City and Chelsea striker is a free agent at the moment, having parted company with Liverpool at the end of last season.
Villa fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to speculation regarding the England international.

Good signing for Aston Villa?
Sturridge is a very good striker whose quality cannot be questioned, but the problem with the former Liverpool star is his injury record.
The Englishman has suffered with injuries in recent seasons, and there is no guarantee that he can stay fit for an entire Premier League campaign.
Sturridge, though, will not be a bad signing for Villa on a free transfer, if the Villans can come to a compromise over his wages.
