Aston Villa appointed Christian Purslow as their new CEO over the summer.

Aston Villa are making strides on the pitch under Dean Smith, and Christian Purslow has been discussing matters off it in recent days.
Villa missed out on promotion back to the Premier League at the end of last season, and as if their Championship play-off final defeat to Fulham wasn’t tough enough to take, financial problems arose too.
Villa were strapped for cash and struggling against Financial Fair Play regulations, before Tony Xia was bought out by new owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens.
There have been more changes, as Dean Smith came in as Steve Bruce’s replacement in October, whilst Jesus Garcia Pitarch became the club’s director of football at the same time.
Another change made since the end of last season was to bring in Purslow as the club’s new chief executive, and the ex-Liverpool man spoke about Villa with BBC’s Sportsweek on Sunday.

As transcribed by the Birmingham Mail, talking up Smith as well as the club’s new owners, whilst adding that the club aren’t going to throw money at going up as they will be financially secure for te longer-term this time around.
Villa fans have been taking to Twitter to react, with many praising Purslow for coming across well with his comments and giving supporters hope that the club is back on the right path, with one fan even admitting that Purslow’s words made him quite emotional after mismanagement off the pitch in recent years.
