Aston Villa fans react to Chris Wilder’s comments

Aston Villa and Sheffield United earned promotion to the Premier League in May, with the Midlands outfit making their return to the top-flight via the playoffs.

Aston Villa supporters on Twitter have praised Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder for his honesty after he stated that his team are in a different transfer market to the Midlands outfit.

Villa, Sheffield United and Norwich City were all promoted from the Championship last season, with the latter winning the league outright and Dean Smith’s side securing their Premier League status via the playoffs.

It has been a month to the day that Villa earned promotion and the club have already made themselves heard in the transfer market, with their top signing being Club Brugge striker Wesley for a club-record fee [BBC Sport].

Wilder admitted that his team, and Norwich simply cannot compete with the former European champions, as he backed them to go and produce the goods next term [Yorkshire Post].

In total, Villa have signed four new players on a permanent basis, with two of those being previous loanees in Anwar El Ghazi and Kortney Hause.

Striker Tammy Abraham wants to fight for his place at Chelsea, whilst the Villa Park faithful are keen to see the club secure the permanent signature of Tyrone Mings, as more new faces will no doubt follow.

Nonetheless, Wilder’s comments, by most, were well received because they felt that he was being honest in his assessments, but others did feel that he was playing mind games.
