Birkir Bjarnason failed to impress during Aston Villa’s goalless draw with Middlesbrough in the Championship on Tuesday night.

Aston Villa fans have reacted on Twitter to Birkir Bjarnason’s performance against Middlesbrough – and it is safe to say that they were not impressed by the Iceland international.
Villa went into their clash with Boro with just one Championship win under their belt and no victory in their previous two fixtures – but would have known that ending that run was always going to be a big ask given the quality within Garry Monk’s squad.
It was a frustrating night for Villa
Unfortunately for Steve Bruce’s men, they seemed to be unable to take a number of fantastic chances, with Robert Snodgrass missing a glorious chance from close range in the second-half and Scott Hogan blocking a shot from his own teammate on the goalline in the dying minutes.
Another great chance during the game fell to Bjarnason – who has endured a fairly miserable spell at the club since arriving back in January.

The 29-year-old managed to put a close range header wide. And while the goalkeeper appeared to get the slightest touch on the ball as it flew across the six-yard box, the midfielder should have arguably still done better given that there was little pace on the cross.
Bjarnason was replaced at half-time, and the supporters were less than complimentary about his display, with some even going so far as to suggest that he is one of the worst players in the club’s history.
