Birkir Bjarnason impressed for Aston Villa on Saturday.

Aston Villa moved within three points of the automatic promotion places with a 3-1 win at home to Barnsley on Saturday.
Steve Bruce’s side got off to a fast and furious start as striker Scott Hogan fired them 2-0 ahead within seven minutes.
The electric start continued as Dimitri Cavare halved the deficit on 11 minutes, before Conor Hourihane restored the two-goal cushion midway through the first half.

It stayed like that and obviously Hogan, being the scorer of two goals, will be getting most of the plaudits, but Aston Villa fans have paid tribute to Birkir Bjarnason in midfield.
The 29-year-old hasn’t always looked great value for money following his £2.5 million switch (Birmingham Mail) but he impressed against Nottingham Forest last time out and kept his place in the first XI this time around.

The Iceland midfielder won four interceptions, won three aerial duels and blocked three shots – at least one of these was crucial – and fans of the Villa Park side have acknowledged his performance on Twitter.
