Aston Villa are reportedly keen on Marcus Bettinelli.

Marcus Bettinelli of England warms up prior to the UEFA Nations League A group four match between Spain and England at Estadio Benito Villamarin on October 15, 2018 in Seville, Spain.

Aston Villa have been busy in the transfer market this summer, but one position still hasn’t been tackled – and that’s in goal.

Villa have landed Tyrone Mings, Kortney Hause, Bjorn Engels, Ezri Konsa, Matt Targett, Jota, Anwar El Ghazi and Wesley, whilst Kasimpasa winger Trezeguet could be next through the door.

Villa still need another goalkeeper though, as whilst Jed Steer ended the season in decent form, Dean Smith may be looking for a more experienced stopper.

Lovre Kalinic hasn’t settled since his January move, and a host of shot-stoppers have been linked with moves to Villa Park this summer.

The latest is Fulham stopper Marcus Bettinelli, as the Daily Mail report that Villa are considering him as an alternative target to Stoke City’s Jack Butland.

The 27-year-old has been out injured since February, but played a key part in Fulham’s 2018 promotion and even earned a call-up to the England squad in September of last year.

Despite that, Villa fans aren’t impressed with the links with Bettinelli, branding him ‘awful’ and suggesting that the club can do better in their pursuit of a goalkeeper.

In fact, many others still believe that Villa will actually sign Butland in the end, and are just feeding targets into the media to try and soften Stoke’s stance on a huge fee towards the end of the transfer window.
