According to The Daily Mail, Villa are interested in signing Santamaria from Angers in the summer transfer window.
It has been reported that the Villans – who will play in the Premier League next season after clinching promotion from the Championship via the playoffs – have looked at the 24-year-old midfielder as an alternative to Kalvin Phillips.
The Daily Mail has claimed that Villa want to sign the 23-year-old central midfielder, but Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa does not want to sell him.
According to WhoScored, Santamaria made 37 starts and one substitute appearance in Ligue 1 for Angers last season, scoring one goal in the process.
Last season, the 24-year-old French midfielder made 30 starts and one substitute appearance for Angers, while during the 2016-17 campaign, he made 35 starts and two substitute appearances, according to WhoScored.
