Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce handed Axel Tuanzebe a rare chance at the heart of the defence.

A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to praise Axel Tuanzebe’s display in what proved to be an incredibly difficult night for Steve Bruce’s men against Preston North End.
Bruce seemed to surprise many in the build-up to the game with the Championship strugglers by handing Tuanzebe a chance at centre-back ahead of Mile Jedinak.
The Manchester United loanee has predominantly played at right-back this term, so it pleased many supporters that he got his chance at the heart of the defence against the Lilywhites.
And it appeared that the Villans were going to cruise to three points as they swiftly took a 2-0 lead. But the game unravelled into carnage within 10 minutes of the restart as James Chester received a red card for a foul that allowed Preston the chance to halve the deficit from the penalty spot.

And Bruce must have feared the worst when the visitors would score twice more to lead 3-2 with four minutes remaining. But the drama was far from done as Yannick Bolasie equalised and Villa were then awarded a penalty of their own.
However, Glenn Whelan saw his effort saved and Bruce is now having to cope with the same questions regarding his future.

But, while it seems that a large portion of the Villa fans want Bruce gone, many were full of praise for Tuanzebe’s display at centre-back, suggesting that the youngster is showing an enormous amount of potential.
