Aston Villa drew with Wolves yesterday in what was Steve Bruce’s first game in charge of his new club. The 1-1 draw was undoubtedly a fortunate result which likely showed Bruce the scale of the challenge he has taken on at Villa Park.

The Villans struggled throughout the game and in the end were lucky to come away with a point.

Plenty of players were given stick after the result – with Micah Richards in particular not impressing the Aston Villa faithful.

But his full-back on the opposite side bore the brunt of the criticism.

Aly Cissokho put in a poor display against Wolves. He continually gave away stupid fouls in unnecessary positions and on top of that his clumsy dive to block a Wolves shot saw him handle the ball and gift them a penalty.

Cissokho has long been unpopular with many of the Aston Villa fans but in fairness to the Frenchman, who has had some poor performances for the club down the years, he has actually been in half decent form for Villa this season.

But his performance in front of his new manager was poor and will no doubt have made Bruce wonder if he is the right man to continue at left-back for Villa.

Here is some of the best reaction to his performance on Twitter…
