Ahmed Elmohamady had a bit of a stinker of Aston Villa today.

It’s never good when you get an assist for the goal that costs your team, but that’s the reality for Aston Villa defender Ahmed Elmohamady tonight.
Aston Villa looked set to earn at least a point against Championship leaders Leeds United at Villa Park, but they didn’t.
Dean Smith’s side raced into a 2-0 half-time lead but second-half goals from Jack Clarke and Pontus Jansson restored parity for the Whites.
For the first goal, Elmohamady was probably guilty of allowing Clarke too much space, but it’s up for debate.
But what isn’t up for debate is the fact that the Egypt international accidentally set up Kemar Roofe’s last-minute winner, with the United hitman volleying across Orjan Nyland’s goal following a tame defensive header from the former Hull City star, who cost Villa £1 million [BBC Sport].
For the most part, Elmohamady, who has played 20 league games for the West Midlanders, has been excellent this season, but Aston Villa fans weren’t happy with his error this afternoon.
It was certainly a disastrous end to the match for Aston Villa, but it hasn’t been a disastrous season. Smith’s troops are only two points adrift of the playoff spots, sitting back in 11th at the moment.
The competition for the top six is fierce, as it always is, but the Villa boss has the players and potentially the resources in January to oversee a much better second half of the season.
