Aston Villa have suffered a blow right before the beginning of the season with the news that Jack Grealish is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Aston Villa fans have been reacting on Twitter to a post which appeared on Jack Grealish’s father’s Facebook which suggested that the midfielder could miss the next three months after sustaining a freak injury in a pre-season friendly.

Grealish had to be taken off 26 minutes into the Villans’ clash with Watford at the weekend, after a nasty collision with Hornets midfielder Tom Cleverly.

Since the event, a post has appeared on Jack’s father Kevin’s Facebook account which confirmed that the 21-year-old had suffered bleeding in his kidney and had undergone an operation earlier in the day that was set to rule him out for the next two or three months.

Unsurprisingly, the news has prompted plenty of discussion amongst the Villa fans as they count down the days until they face Hull City at Villa Park on Saturday evening.

Many of the supporters have obviously taken little time to wish Grealish a speedy recovery, but they have also been expressing their disappointment as it seemed that this season could have been a pivotal one for the youngster.

After threatening to demonstrate his quality in the past, there was perhaps a feeling that now was the time for the academy graduate to step-up, and thus, this setback is undoubtedly a major blow.

Meanwhile, some fans have also been speculating as to who Steve Bruce may turn to to try and fill the void that the prospect will leave for the next couple of months.
