Aston Villa will face Wolverhampton Wanderers next season if they win promotion to the Premier League.
Aston Villa fans on Twitter were full of praise for Wolves after they confirmed their European status on Saturday after Watford were beaten by Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side finished seventh during the recently concluded Premier League season and, as a result, gave themselves a chance of qualifying for the Europa League group stages.
But those hopes would have ended had Watford won the FA Cup over the weekend, but they were battered 6-0 by Pep Guardiola’s City.
Now, Wolves will be preparing for a trek in Europe as their season will seemingly start a lot earlier than others because they will have to take part in the qualifiers.
Either way, it has been a remarkable achievement by the club because only last season they were playing Championship football and the season before that they were a mid-table club in the second tier.
Finishing in the Premier League’s top seven in their first season back wasn’t the only positive of the season because they also reached the FA Cup semi-finals.

Aston Villa, who missed out on promotion with Wolves last season, have the chance to make a return to the promised land once again this term.
They face Derby County in the play-off final on May 27th and if they can go one better than last season then they will be locking horns with their Midland rivals in the Premier League next term.
