Aston Villa boss Dean Smith has put Tyrone Mings straight into his side’s defence.

Aston Villa fans have urged Tyrone Mings to sign permanently for them, after his latest message on social media website Twitter.

Mings has joined Villa on loan from Bournemouth, and he has impressed with Dean Smith’s side.

The central defender has gone straight into Villa’s back-four, and helped Smith’s side tighten up their backline in recent weeks.

Mings actually gave away a penalty in Villa’s most recent match against Sheffield Wednesday, but goalkeeper Jed Steer saved the spot kick to save his teammate’s blushes.

And the claret and blues went on to claim the three points in a 3-1 victory.

Mings seems to have been forgiven for his mistake already by Villa supporters, and there is now a growing clamour for him to put pen to paper on a longer-term deal as soon as possible.

Whether Villa would be able to pull off a deal remains to be seen, as Bournemouth paid £8 million for Mings three years ago (the Guardian), and would likely want to recoup a similar fee.

Villa’s win over Wednesday was their sixth in a row, and took Smith’s side a huge step closer to making the play offs.
