Aston Villa fans on Twitter have been left frustrated by comments made by Tyrone Mings after his side suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Arsenal at the weekend.

Despite Unai Emery’s men being down to 10 men, Villa being in the lead on two occasions, it was Arsenal who walked away with the points.

After the game, Mings stated that Villa need to be more ‘bravier’ and press teams ‘higher up the pitch’, as quoted by Villa’s official Twitter account.

It is a style of play that Dean Smith has implemented ever since he walked through the doors of Bodymoor Heath last October, and it’s that forward-thinking style that helped Villa earn promotion to England’s top-flight.

Whilst Villa have showcased that since their return, it has only come in parts, i..e the first half against Tottenham, the second half against Bournemouth, the first half against West Ham and the first half against the Gunners.

But it is fair to say that Villa fans weren’t pleased with the comments made by one of their senior players because they are asking why the team isn’t playing in their natural way.

From not pressing to the front and tiring in the second half, questions are being asked during these early stages, but it needs to be remembered that it is still early days for Villa.

Smith’s side will take on Brighton on Wednesday night in the EFL Cup, with Sean Dyche’s Burnley visiting Villa Park at the weekend, as the home team will be desperate for the points.
