Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest went head-to-head this weekend.

Aston Villa suffered another major setback this weekend as they lost 2-1 away to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Goals from Britt Assombalonga and Ben Brereton ensured the hosts sealed all three points having initially gone behind when Jonathan Kodjia scored 19 minutes in, and the defeat leaves Villa boss Steve Bruce with a lot of work to do in the weeks ahead.

The former Manchester United defender was expected to shake things up at Villa Park and get the side pushing for promotion in the second half of the campaign. However, as things stand the Villans are 14th, 13 points outside the play-off places with time running out to close the gap.

Bruce played three centre-backs, with Tommy Elphick starting alongside James Chester and Nathan Baker, and the former Bournemouth man’s performance generated plenty of discussion on social media both during and after the match.
