Aston Villa have announced that Tommy Elphick is returning to his parent club after being recalled from his loan spell.

A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the news that the club confirmed on their official website that Tommy Elphick has been recalled from his loan spell and will be available to Dean Smith’s side during the second-half of the season.
Elphick has endured a turbulent Villa career. He made 26 Championship appearances during his first year with the club, but only featured four times last term and was loaned out after one game this year.
At Hull however, Elphick was excellent, playing 18 times and helping the Tigers move gradually up the Championship table. But the 2-1 win against Preston has proven to be his final game for Nigel Adkins’ men.
Villa have confirmed on their official website that they have recalled the centre-back. It is little surprise that he is heading back to his parent club.

Elphick was loaned out during Steve Bruce’s tenure, and his successor Dean Smith will have to address a shortage of options at the heart of the defence in the coming weeks.
And with the former Bournemouth man performing well, it seemed to be a no-brainer to bring him back. And most of the fans on social media appear to be delighted with the news.

Many have suggested that he should not have been loaned out in the first place, an are hopeful that he can make a contribution during the remaining months of the campaign as Villa look to put a promotion charge together.
Here is how some of the fans reacted to the announcement…
