Ligue 1 side Monaco have suspended Thierry Henry as manager as he reportedly could have joined Aston Villa in October.
Aston Villa supporters on Twitter believe the club have dodged a bullet by previously not appointing Thierry Henry as their manager because he is now on the verge of being sacked by Monaco.
The Ligue 1 outfit announced on their official website on Thursday that they have decided to suspend Henry as coach of the first team after they were knocked out of the French cup by second-tier side Metz on Tuesday.
Henry took the reigns at the Stade Louis stadium in October, three days after Villa had announced that Dean Smith was going to replace Steve Bruce at the Championship club instead.
Leading up to Smith’s appointment at Villa Park, a lot of managers were touted to take on the role, including Henry, who at one point was the favourite for the post, as reported by the Guardian.
Instead, he returned to his homeland to take over at Monaco and is now on the verge of being sacked after just over three months in the dugout.
Understandably, Villa supporters believe they were lucky not to appoint Henry as their manager because of the poor start to his managerial career.
Even though the Midlands outfit has struggled since Smith took over, many think they could have been in a worse position had the former striker opted to take the reigns at the Championship club.

At this moment in time, under Smith, Villa are sitting seven points outside of the playoff places as they are yet to register three points in 2019.
They welcome former manager Paul Lambert and his Ipswich side to Villa Park on Saturday, with the Tractor Boys sitting bottom of the Championship table.
