Gabriel Agbonlahor has not made an appearance for Aston Villa so far this season.
Steve Bruce’s suggestion that he will give Gabriel Agbonlahor another chance at Aston Villa have received a mixed reaction from supporters of the Midlands club.
Agbonlahor has not featured at all for Villa this season, and he appeared to have been cast aside by former boss Roberto Di Matteo.
The long-serving Villa forward has been handed a fresh start under Bruce, though, with the 55-year-old keen to offer all of the claret and blues players a clean slate.
“I’m not really interested about what’s happened in the past,” Bruce said to the Birmingham Mail.
“Yes, [the slate is clean]. That obviously means Gabby too.
“He’s had his problems and it’s fair to say he and I have got to get him into some condition but that applies to him too.”
Agbonlahor has had his fair share of off the field controversies at Villa, and it seems that some fans have lost patience with him. Other Villans supporters appear to be in support of Bruce’s comments, as they feel he could impress in the Championship.
For Agbonlahor to break into Villa’s team he will have to seriously impress in training, as there is fierce competition for places up-front in Bruce’s squad.
The likes of Rudy Gestede, Jonathan Kodjia, Jordan Ayew and Ross McCormack are all capable Championship strikers, and currently sit ahead of Agbonlahor in the pecking order for places at Villa Park.
